The Corner House is a bed & breakfast in the village of West Runton between Sheringham and Cromer. Their tearoom on the ground floor has a single room for those taking tea, as well as tables outside at the front. Although there are several public houses very nearby The Corner House appeared to be a very popular choice for both tourists and locals, and clearly has many regular customers. When I visited just before midday on a Sunday, all tables were occupied or booked, so I was offered one of the two easy chairs, as though this was a poor choice, under the uninterested gaze of a model of Betty Boop. Some later customers had to make do with seats outside.
The menu is quite extensive and there is a good range of teas. A ham and mustard sandwich with salad, chocolate and Guinness cake, and a pot of gunpowder green tea with refill of water came to £11.35. The cake was particularly rich, with most of the Guinness seeming to be in the cream. Payment is cash only. Service was friendly but not intrusive, and naturally was much more chatty with their regular local customers.
