Tilly’s Tea Room and Licensed Eating House, Tewkesbury

Date visited: Monday 1st July 2019

A chicken and bacon panini, a flapjack and a pot of Sencha green tea for a very reasonable £9.50.

Tilly’s Tea Room and Licensed Eating House on Barton Street, Tewkesbury, has rooms for those taking tea on both ground and first floors, as well as a couple of tables in the street. It has an extensive menu, which varies during the day, and includes a good selection of savoury items. Tilly’s range of teas, all from one local company, is relatively limited, but in addition to tea the menu includes coffee, soft drinks and a range of alcoholic beverages.

Although not that busy with customers, it was busy with deliveries arriving and the day’s cakes being brought out. (An interesting, multicoloured chocolate concoction appeared after I had ordered, unfortunately.) Service wasn’t particularly quick, as all meals are prepared to order, but this seemed to add to the relaxed atmosphere of the establishment. If you’re one of those odd people that prefers to take their tea in a hurry, this probably isn’t the place for you.
