Owl Tea Rooms, Holt

Date visited: Saturday 18th May 2019

The Owl Tea Rooms have a single fairly large room for those taking tea, behind a small shop area at the front of the building. They also have a large tea garden with space for 35 people to take tea. The menu is quite extensive with separate breakfast, lunch and afternoon menus. There is an in-between period between 11 am and noon, where some items of both the breakfast and lunch menus are available. The drinks menu offers a reasonable range of teas and a limited range of coffees and hot chocolate. Although a long established tearooms, the current proprietors only took over in 2017.

A ham salad sandwich, coffee and walnut cake, and a pot of delicate green tea, for £13.85.

On the day I visited The Owl was very busy, despite it being just before noon, with some of the staff seeming rather stretched. Some customers had to wait a little for a table inside – it wasn’t quite the weather for taking tea outside in the tea garden, though a few did.

A ham salad sandwich, coffee and walnut cake, and a pot of delicate green tea came to £13.85. Unusually, rather than bringing a pot of tea out quickly, with food following later, a glass of water was provided first, with the pot of tea and food all served almost together later.
